The Customer-Ready Durables Portfolio features UL 969-recognized products, and an extensive matrix of ribbons and inks.

Avery Dennison has expanded its Customer-Ready Durables Portfolio by adding several components, including the UL-recognized TurnLock Laminating System and HP Indigo specifications. In addition, the portfolio includes a new high performance UV overlaminate technology and 2 Mil clear polyester topcoat, plus updated press inks and thermal transfer ribbons. The Customer-Ready Durables Portfolio features many UL 969-recognized products, as well as an extensive matrix of ribbons and press inks that converters can easily “adopt” into their own UL files. By adopting, converters can reduce the time and cost associated with obtaining UL recognition on their own. “The expanded Customer-Ready Durables Portfolio brings new value for converters and their customers by reducing costs and complexity,” says Kevin Gofron, Avery Dennison business development manager, Durables. “Consolidating UL-compliant products into one portfolio improves the speed to application in the durable goods segment.” According to Avery Dennison, the portfolio offers several benefits. The TurnLock Laminating System allows converters to produce protected graphics from a single material roll, eliminating the need for a second roll of overlaminate or transfer tape. A single roll of TurnLock significantly reduces setup times and increases run speeds. It also eliminates common overlamination errors and reduces waste. New HP Indigo specifications include high-performance label materials qualified on WS4000 and 6000 series presses with HP Indigo ElectroInk 4.0. The portfolio includes six label materials commonly used for indoor and outdoor durables applications, allowing converters to run UL 969 required jobs on HP Indigo presses. A new UV overlaminate provides additional abrasion and weather resistance to prolong the life of printed images and base materials, as well. Compared to a standard overlaminate, the new UV overlaminate, which features UV-stabilized film and UV blockers, may be combined with an adhesive that resists yellowing to improve the life of outdoor labels. Finally, the 2 Mil clear polyester material offers a transparent topcoated film with excellent tear strength, heat and chemical resistance, and dimensional stability. Designed for printing with most solvent and some water-based flexographic inks, the topcoat is suitable for thermal transfer printing applications with select ribbons.
